Aftosmidis Dimitris is a physiotherapist with a Masters’ Degree on Physical Activities of a Special Populations. He has collaborated with several professional sports teams for 30 years and he is a member of Sports Medicine Association of Greece. He is a lecturer at International Hellenic Univercity at the Department of Physiotherapy and an instructor of Dynamic Tape, as well as of Human Tecar Methology in Greece. As an expert in sports rehabilitation, he has participated in various research projects and has delivered many conference presentations

Pavlos Angelopoulos is a Sports and Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation Physiotherapist. He is member of the Laboratory of Therapeutic Exercise and Sports Rehabilitation of the University of Patras, Greece. He is continuously engaged in research; his Study on Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness was awarded Best Research at the Panhellenic Physiotherapy Conference of 2014.

He is actively involved in research projects on clinical interventions, manual therapy, biomechanics, physiology and soft tissue mobilization techniques as part of his PhD.

He has clinical experience as a Sports Physiotherapist in professional soccer clubs for over 5 years. He has treated hundreds of patients in his private clinical work.

Pavlos is the International Courses’ Director for Europe and the USA and Head Trainer of ERGON IASTM TECHNIQUE Basic and Advanced courses.

Before becoming a sport physiotherapist and researcher, I acquired, as a high-level athlete in skiing for 10 years, a sensitivity of athletes’ health struggles. I have been specializing on the ankle sprain at the University of Liege.

I do research for the human movement analysis laboratory and I also assess athletes for the sports performance help center (@capsbelgique).

We strive to help them to find ways to improve their rehabilitation and/or to initiate a prevention program. I appreciate spending time on the field but also doing research to find concrete solutions.

Ioannis G. Amiridis is an associate professor at the Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at Serres, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. He obtained his B.Ed. at the Department of Physical Education and Sport Sciences in Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1987, his DEA in ‘‘Physiologie des adaptations’’ at the Hospital Cochin – Paris V (1989) and his PhD at the UFR-STAPS de Dijon – France (1995). Gregory Bogdanis is a Professor at the School of P.E. and Sport Science of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He is also a board member of the Hellenic Society of Biochemistry and Physiology of Exercise. Gregory has studied exercise physiology at Loughborough University, UK, and has conducted post-doctoral research at the Department of Histochemistry and Metabolism of the Hellenic Sports Research Institute. He has received scholarships from the Greek State Scholarships Foundation, the British Council and Gatorade Sports Science Institute. His research work focuses on exercise physiology and muscle biochemistry applied to sport and exercise. His recent work is on muscle adaptations during strength and power training, as well as on oxidative stress and inflammation during high intensity exercise and training. Bogdanis has published more than 100 scientific papers in international journals and 10 books and book chapters. His citation index is >4400, with an h-index of 30. Gregory is a Fellow of the European College of Sport Science (ECSS), a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine (FACSM) and founding member of the Hellenic Society of Biochemistry and Physiology of Exercise. Also, he serves as Section Editor for the European Journal of Sport Science, and he is a member of the Editorial board for the Journal of Science and Medicine in Sport and a reviewer in >30 international journals.

Stefano Della Villa, MD

Stefano Della Villa received his MD from the University of Bologna in 1985 and completed his residency in Orthopaedic and Sport Rehabilitation at the Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institutes in 1988.

As part of his training Stefano completed a fellowship in 1987 and 1988 with Professor Michael Dillingham, Director of Sports Medicine Programme, at Stanford University (California, US) and with Rick Eagleston, Physical Therapist of the Stanford Swimming Team.

Stefano founded Isokinetic Medical Group in 1987 in Bologna and since then he has been the President of the company.

In 1992, Stefano organized the first edition of the International Conference on Sports Rehabilitation and Traumatology, the largest football medicine event in the world, that is organized every year. The conference in the last years was held at Camp Nou, in Barcelona, and at Wembley Stadium in London. Next 2022 edition will be held in Lyon.

In 2000, Stefano founded, together with a Sports Medicine Physician, Giulio Sergio Roi, the Educational and Research Department of the company, which focuses on prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of sports injuries. In 2001, the Isokinetic Medical Group opened a new clinic in Milan and in the following years in Rome, Turin, Verona, Rimini and Cortina d’Ampezzo. Dr Georgoudis Georgios is a Professor in the Physiotherapy Department of the University West Attica specializing in the physiotherapy assessment and treatment of painful musculoskeletal conditions. He is also the Head/Director of the Musculoskeletal Research Laboratory at the University of West Attica.

He has received his BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy from the Technological Education Institute of Athens. His MSc in Physiotherapy from the Medical School of Victoria University of Manchester focused on the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders (Cyriax’s orthopedic medicine approach), biomechanics and pain management. His PhD was conducted in the medical department of the Centre of Rehabilitation Science at the University of Manchester on the subject of myofascial pain assessment and treatment. He has a number of international publications focused on the validation of questionnaires in the Greek language, the implementation of needling techniques, and the assessment and treatment of painful musculoskeletal conditions.  His research interests include the investigation of patients quality of life, acupuncture and needling techniques, rehabilitation in orthopedics and contemporary physiotherapy practice

Dr Dustin Grooms, PhD, ATC, CSCS, is an Associate Professor in the Division of Physical Therapy at Ohio University. Dr. Grooms received his doctorate from the Ohio State University in health and rehabilitation sciences, with a focus on neuroscience and biomechanics. He co-directs the Neuromuscular Biomechanics and Health Assessment Lab and Neuroimaging Research Core at Ohio University. Dr. Grooms has over 60 peer reviewed publications and over 200 presentations and\or conference proceedings. Dr. Grooms’ research is funded by the United States National Institutes of Health and Department of Defense. In 2020 he won the New Investigator award from the National Athletic Trainers’ Association. His main research interest is how the brain and movement mechanics change after musculoskeletal injury and therapy.

Dr Charlotte Häger, PhD, RPT, Professor in physiotherapy at Umeå university, and a clinical affiliation to the Orthopedic clinic at Norrlands University Hospital, Umeå, Sweden. Dr Häger has a PhD in neurophysiology, she is head of U-Motion lab, and has published ~100 peer reviewed original research papers mainly related to human movement control in both neurological and musculoskeletal conditions. She has presented at about 200 international congresses, supervised more than 20 PhD students and post-docs. She was scientific chair of the WCPT congress in Geneva 2019. Charlotte has received several awards, such as by Umeå university, by Queen Silvia of Sweden, and an international service award by WCPT in 2019. She was recently also awarded “The physiotherapist of the year" in 2019 by the Swedish Association of Physiotherapists.

Dr Eleni Kapreli is a Professor in Physiotherapy Department, University of Thessaly and she is currently the Director of Clinical Exercise Physiology and Rehabilitation Laboratory and BrainRehab Research Team.  She has an MSc in Sports Medicine (1996) from University of Nottingham, UK and a Phd in Exercise Biology (2006) from National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Her research is mainly focused on the study of 1) the underlying mechanisms of dysfunction development in chronic neuro-musculoskeletal patients and sports injuries assessment, prevention and rehabilitation. She has more than 60 peer reviewed scientific publications with more than 1600 citations. Eleftherios Kellis, B(Ed), PT, Ph.D. is the Director of the Laboratory of Neuromechanics at the Department of Physical Education and Sport Sciences at Serres, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He authored more than 100 publications on hamstring muscle modeling and function, joint mechanics and clinical electromyography with a special emphasis on soccer injury mechanics. He is the Director of the Masters’ Degree in “Soccer Training and Injury Prevention” in collaboration with PAOK FC.

Vasileios Korakakis is a specialist spine and sports physiotherapist working as the Clinical Leader of the Rehabilitation Department at Aspetar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital. He has worked as a physiotherapist in elite football clubs and has several years of experience in spinal and orthopaedic rehabilitation. He is a senior lecturer in Orthopaedic Manipulative Therapy in IFOMPT certified programmes, has a diploma in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy, and a postgraduate diploma in Physical Therapy from the University of Otago (NZ). After gaining his MSc in Health and Exercise from the University of Thessaly (GR) in 2012, he continued to gain his PhD in biomechanics (2020). He has over 40 original publications in the fields of sports medicine, clinimetrics, and biomechanics. His recent research interest focuses on the clinical applications of blood flow restriction training, spinal biomechanics, sports injuries rehabilitation, systematic reviews, and clinimetrics.

Caroline Le Goff studied pharmacology at the University of Liège. After her graduation in 2003, she followed a specialization in Clinical Laboratory Medicine. Starting October 1st 2008, she became European Specialist in Clinical Biologist/Pharmacist at the CHU of Liège.

Her main interests are, in particular: endocrinology, cardiac, inflammatory and oxidative stress biomarkers in the field of sport. In 2020, she finished a PhD on the impact of intensive strenuous exercise on the liberation of specific cardiac biomarkers. She has already followed sportsmen during different running (semi-marathon, marathon, ultra-trail…) and cycling races to analyze their biological parameters.

The most highly cited author in Orthopaedics, Professor Maffulli is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Sports Injury Surgeons.  He has published more than 1,300 peer reviewed articles in scientific journals and 12 books, and has described more than 40 new surgical techniques in the field of knee, foot and ankle, fracture and sports surgery. Many have now become the standard of practice in these fields.

A keen free style wrestler and judo player in his younger day, his dream of going to the Olympics was granted in London: he organised the medical services for the judo and wrestling tournaments at the London 2012 Olympics.

Konstantinos Mylonas is a Sports and Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation Physiotherapist, specializing in soft tissue mobilization. He is member of the Laboratory of Therapeutic Exercise and Sports Rehabilitation of the University of Patras, Greece.

He has participated in 18 research studies on sports and musculoskeletal injuries and soft tissue mobilization techniques. He continues researching the effects of soft tissue mobilization as part of his PhD.

He has been active in physiotherapy clinical practice for over 5 years. He has treated hundreds of patients in his private Physiotherapy Clinic.

In collaboration with Professor Dr. Konstantinos Fousekis, he developed older IASTM approaches to create ERGON IASTM TECHNIQUE as the basic treatment of painful and non-musculoskeletal disorders.

He is the CEO and CoFounder and Head Trainer of ERGON IASTM TECHNIQUE.

Dr Florence Newton is a consultant in sport and exercise medicine. She is a fellow of the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine and has an MSc in Sports medicine, Exercise and Health from University College London. Dr Newton has worked at Arsenal Football Club since 2014, initially working with the academy and has been a full-time doctor to the first team since May 2020.

Dr Pantelis Nikolaidis is an exercise physiologist, specialized in exercise testing. He studied sports science at the University of Athens (2001); then focused on exercise physiology at the University of Prague as a scholar of the state scholarship foundation (MSc, PhD). He teaches at the School of Health and Caring Sciences, University of West Attica, and runs a private exercise physiology laboratory. He published more than 300 peer-reviewed scientific papers.

Nat Padhiar was appointed Consultant Podiatric Surgeon at The Royal London Hospital between 1991-2011. He has a private practice at London SportsCare, The London Independent Hospital and European SportsCare, 27 & 68 Harley Street, London. He is also an Honorary Reader, Internal Examiner, Co-course leader and Module Leader in the Centre for Sports & Exercise Medicine (CSEM), William Harvey Research Institute, St Bartholomew’s and the Royal London School of the Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary, London University. In the last 2 decades he has supervised over 150 research projects submitted by MSc and iBSc students in SEM. Nat Padhiar was part of Medical Service Team, the Clinical Lead and Team Leader for Podiatry at The London 2012 Games and was based in the Polyclinic, Olympic Village in Stratford for the entire period of Olympic & Paralympic Games 2012. Dr. Paschalis holds a tenure track faculty position as an assistant professor in Sport and Exercise Physiology in the School of Sport Science and Physical Education of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. The academic year 2012/13 Dr. Paschalis was on sabbatical at the Department of Health Sciences of the European University Cyprus. He was among the founders of the Institute for Research and Technology of Thessaly, Center for Research and Technology – Hellas. Dr. Paschalis is an acknowledged biologist with vast experience in performance assessment and muscle physiology. He supports and promotes basic, applied and clinical research in sports medicine, sports nutrition and exercise science. Prof. Stephane Perrey, Professor in Exercise Physiology, IUF honorary member, at the University of Montpellier is currently the Director of EuroMov Digital Health in Motion Research Lab.  He has a PhD in Exercise Physiology (2000) from University of Besançon (France) in partnership with the University of Waterloo (Canada). His current researches are in the center of issues, which have for objectives to identify, quantify and explain mechanisms responsible for changes of the motor function in humans. Especially, functional investigation of the brain during various motor tasks involving fatigue is realized by using electrophysiological and near-infrared spectroscopy signals. He has more than 160 peer reviewed scientific publications with more than 6000 citations. He has participated in more than 30 national and international conferences as an invited speaker, has been coordinator/member in several granted research projects and is specialty chief editor or associated editor for several scientific peer-reviewed high-impact journals in Human Neurosciences and Neuroergonomics.

Dr Pyne graduated from Cambridge University (preclinical) and Barts and the Royal London Medical School (clinical) with Distinction. He undertook his junior doctor training in London and gained his consultant CCST qualifications in both Rheumatology and General Medicine.

He was awarded the British Society of Rheumatology Travelling Fellowship in 2003. Subsequently in 2004, he attained overseas experience in Australia in Rheumatolog, Neurology and Renal Medicine, equipping him to specialise in multisystem problems. He trained in acupuncture at The Royal Homeopathic Hospital in 2001 and is certified by the British Medical Acupuncture Society.

Dr Pyne has published literature on rheumatic disease, acupuncture and joint injections in leading medical journals including Rheumatology and the British Journal of Sports Medicine. He has also contributed the rheumatology content to the popular international medical student textbook ‘Medical Management and Therapeutics’ by Kumar and Clark. He runs regular joint examinations/injection courses for GPs and allied health professionals and is an examiner for the University of London MBBS medical degree. He is Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of London, QMUL for Rheumatology and Sports Medicine.

He leads the 2nd largest rheumatology NHS service in the country as the Head of Rheumatology for Barts, Royal London, Newham, Mile End and Whipps Cross Hospitals.

Volker qualified in Medicine from the University of Munich. He trained as a General Practitioner in the UK and worked for several years in Edinburgh before qualifying as a Sports Physician at the Olympic Training Centre at the University of Heidelberg. He was assistant medical director at the Sports Medicine Department at the University of Paderborn and lectured in sports medicine and physiology. He currently works at the rehabilitation unit for the British Military and the European Golf Tour. He is a lecturer at the Universidad a Distancia de Madrid (UDIMA). He has published over 50 scientific papers, examining the impact of exercise and performance on the human body, has supervised more than 40 student dissertation projects and is associate editor for Frontiers Physiology. Stathas Ioannis , Sports PTs ,is a physiotherapist of AEK fc over the last 6 years. Dr. Nikolaos Strimpakos is a Professor in the Department of Physiotherapy, University of Thessaly, Greece. He holds an MSc and PhD in Rehabilitation from University of Manchester, UK and also a BSc in Physiotherapy from TEI of Thessaloniki and BSc in Sports Science from University of Athens. Currently, he is Director of Research Institute of Rehabilitation and Wellbeing, Director of Health Assessment and Quality of Life Lab and member of Quality Assurance Unit of University of Thessaly. He is also member of Education Working Group of European Region of WCPT and National Delegate of European Society of Shoulder and Elbow Rehabilitation (EUSSER). Dr Eleni Theodoropoulou studied Sport Science at the School of Physical Education and Sport Science of the University of Athens (2001); then she qualified in exercise physiology – research methods in sport science – physical activity at the School of Physical Education and Sport Science of the University of Athens (MSc: 2008, PhD: 2014). She was a research assistant in the research program titled “Assessment of theoretical structural models of quality of life in Greek adult population: Associations with personal, social, and psychological factors” (European Social Fund and Greek national funds through the Research Funding Program: Heracleitus II). Mr Tolos has been a qualified physiotherapist since 2002 and holds a Master’s degree in Sports Physiotherapy since 2003 (University of Strathclyde, UK). He was certified as a Midterm Orthopaedic Manual Therapist (OMT) in December 2011 (Kaltenborn-Evjenth) and as a PNF Therapist in October 2012 (IPNFA). Dr. Nick van der Horst is a sports physiotherapist working in elite football. After working as the head of the medical staff for Go Ahead Eagles Football Club in Netherlands, he is currently employed by the KNVB where he is primarily responsible for the rehabilitation process of injured professional football players.

In 2017, Nick obtained his PhD on behalf of his research about the prevention of hamstring injuries in football. As an embedded scientist, he is also involved in research and lecturing about football medicine and physical performance.

Rod Whiteley is the Assistant Director of the Rehabilitation Department at Aspetar Sports Medicine Hospital in Qatar. He is a Fellow of the Australian College of Sports Physiotherapy (Sports Physiotherapy) whose PhD was in throwing-related shoulder injury. He worked for 20 years in professional rugby league, rugby union, and baseball, but since moving to Qatar in 2010, has mostly been working in football, handball, volleyball, and athletics.

She is member of ESSKA, ESA, and SECEC/ESSSE. She has 27 publications in Pubmed indexed journals (460 citations, h-index 11), 7 chapters in textbooks, 11 awards, and more than 100 scientific presentations at national and international meetings. She has been Scientific Associate at the Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Center of Ioannina (University Hospital of Ioannina, Sports Medicine Department, Director Prof A.D.Georgoulis) from 2007 to 2014.  She is member of medical team of Apollon Smyrnis Football Club (professional football club that participates in the Greek Super League, highest professional league).

Dr. Georgios G. Ziogas, was awarded a Doctoral Degree (Ph.D.) in Sport Science and Exercise Physiology from University of Missouri-Columbia, and a Master of Science degree from Pittsburg State University (USA).
During his doctoral studies he was research and teaching assistant at the Sport Science and Human Performance Lab (1992-1996). He received numerous prestigious awards including the “Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities”, “Walter Scott Monroe Research Fellowship”, “Marvelle Michael Scholarship” and the Superior Graduate Student Achievement Award.
Since 2000 he is Head of “SPORTSCLINIC Thessaloniki Exercise Physiology and Human Performance Lab”. He has been working with elite players, coaches and teams in various sports, including PAOK FC, OLYMPIACOS FC, APOEL FC, MACCABI TEL AVIV FC, DYNAMO MOSCOW FC, ARIS BC, and Hellenic Olympic Rowing team.
He has more than 60 scientific presentations and 18 published articles in reputable international journals.
